Boxer Gary Mason Dies In Cycling Accident ...

Former boxer Gary Mason was killed Thursday in Wallington, South London when his cycle was involved in a collision with a white van.

The retired fighter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mason won 37 of 38 fights as a pro, with his only defeat being to the great Lennox Lewis - who went on to become World Heavyweight Champion. He led a varied life after his boxing career, with a spell as a pundit for Sky Sports and a brief venture with rugby league side London Broncos.

I always thought that somehow in the event of any crash on my cycle, my physique and high tolerance to pain would see me through - that's why I rarely bother with a helmet. After seeing the story above, though, I'm reconsidering.
